Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo

This tutorial highlights was made by DIALux evo 4 to explain how to make curved or irregular shape for walls and ceiling.

If you don’t have any experience with DIALux evo, I advise you to start with DIALux evo Tutorial 4 which explains more basic function of the software that might not be explained here, DIALux evo Tutorial 4 could be found @

Making Curved walls
The fist step is to define the maximum depth or wall thickness  01_Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo_irregular shape for walls
   
You can put the thickness in the wall thickness.

alternately you can modify the wall thickness after creating a room by the following steps

Draw a help line with parallels spaced apart equal to the thickness of the wall

It is better to have it a little bit more like thickness+0,2 meter to be able to put windows.

Go to storey and building constriction tool and move the other wall points to the new location of the line  04_Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo_irregular shape for walls
In 3d view of the storey (not the room)

Start a cut-out in the wall to follow the shape you are looking for ,

You can draw it randomly and modify it in the elevation.

Use limit cutting depth to be the same as the wall length.  06_Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo_irregular shape for walls
In plan view move the cutout line to the inner line of the wall.

To do this step you have to be in storey (not the room)

And cut out tool should be selected to be able to move the cutout.

 you can modify the points by right click of the mouse to delete or add points in the side view 09_Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo_irregular shape for walls
You can also create help line to help of the required shape in the elevation and then move the point of the cut-out the to help line.

This could be easier in case of curved line.

The more points you put the smother the curved wall is.

Remember you can only modify the cutout in the cutout tool.

Now you have a curved wall!

remember to have window the thickness has to have more +0,2 meter deep.

Making Curved ceiling
For ceiling insert a ceiling and make the ceiling thickness as the maximum depth for the final shape.  13_Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo_irregular shape for ceiling
In the 3d view of the room

This time should be the room not the Storey

Make a random cutout in the ceiling

You can modify the shape in the elevation view similar to the wall steps mentioned earlier  15_Curved walls and ceiling in DIALux evo_irregular shape for ceiling
